What does ‘lucid’ mean?

In the simplest of terms, ‘lucid’ can be defined as clarity in thought and communication. It refers to the ability to express ideas in a clear, unambiguous manner, or to understand concepts or situations with ease. It often describes a state of mental transparency or coherence, where thoughts are easy to understand and articulate.

Being ‘lucid’ is fundamental for both academic learning and communication. This can refer to lucid thinking, writing, or dreaming. Lucid thinking is the capacity to reason logically and understand complex ideas. Lucid writing is the aptitude to convey ideas clearly and coherently in written form Lucid dreaming is a state of sleep where one is aware of dreaming and can often control the experience.

Nutritional supplements that can potentially enhance lucidity include Ginkgo Biloba, DHA algae, Alpha-GPC, Lions Mane, L-Tyrosine, Citicoline, L-Theanine, Phosphatidylserine, Paraxanthine, Rhodiola Rosea and Bacopa Monnieri. These supplements are thought to boost brain function or improve mental clarity, potentially leading to a more ‘lucid’ state of mind.
